Experience Qi Charging on the Go With the Montar Air Qi Wireless Charging Car Mount

The Montar Air Qi Wireless Charging Car Mount currently lists for just south of $60 on Amazon. While that might sound like a lot, the fact that this unit is both a reliable wireless charger and a durable car mount definitely sweetens the deal. Add in the included charge cable, its adjustable (and oh-so-accommodating) side and bottom supports, and the simplicity of its one-hand lock and release functionality, and you have a solution for practically any Qi-compatible smartphone. Doing the Two-Smartphone Shuffle

Doing the Two-Smartphone Shuffle

You know who I’m talking about even if I’m not specifically talking about you. This is the person that comes into a meeting at work and plops down a stack of smartphones on the conference room table. I have recently joined the two smartphone club, and because I see so many others like me struggling to do this dance properly I thought it was time to help make things a little easier. Read More

4 iPhone Cases Reviewed: M-Edge, Belkin and Radius

While I passed on the iPhone 5s (I’m spoiled by all these big-screened Android phones and decided to give Apple one more chance to come up with a bigger iPhone 6 next year), my wife bought one. In fact, she waited the extra month and a half to get the gold version. ‘Cause gold is better… Anyway, once you have one of Apple’s shiny aluminum and glass bars in your hand, the trick is to keep it shiny. That’s where a protective case comes in. We tested out four iPhone 5s cases in an attempt to find the best one for different use cases. Here are the results. Read More

Hands-on Look at the Samsung Galaxy S4

The Samsung Galaxy S4 was released in June this past year, and hearsay is that the S5 will be released as early as January 2014 (in part because of slower sales of the S4). I’m a bit behind schedule, but I got an S4 to try out for a few months and I’ve been putting it through its paces. Read More

GeekDad Review: House of Marley Roots Rock Bluetooth Portable Audio System

GeekDad Review: House of Marley Roots Rock Bluetooth Portable Audio System

I’ve had the opportunity to test many speaker docks and wireless speaker systems in my day. One trend I’ve noticed over the past few years as portable Bluetooth wireless speakers have become increasingly popular, is the boring conformity that so many of these devices exhibit. In an effort to make them as portable as possible, manufacturers have a tendency to adopt a compact rectangular form factor, usually small enough to hold in one hand, two drivers are the norm, with a plastic case (typically in black) and black mesh speaker covers. There’s nothing inherently wrong with this approach and some of them sound quite decent. But I like things a little different. I want good sound, along with a design that’s interesting too. Something that stands out a little. My own speaker dock purchases reflect this preference: a JBL Radial and a Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin (still my all-time favorite for sound and looks). I just wrapped up a few weeks with a Roots Rock Bluetooth portable audio system and I have a candidate for my new favorite in the portable category. Read More

Moshi Audio Mythro Earbuds: Finally Earbuds For Small Ears

Moshi Audio Mythro Earbuds: Finally Earbuds For Small Ears

It is difficult for me to find earbuds that work in my ears. Most fall out because my ears are so tiny. For example, the standard iPod buds don’t even fit in my ears at all. I have used my kids earbuds in the past because they came with an extra small bud tip. But I can’t use my kids earbuds on a continual basis. The Moshi earbuds are the first earbuds I have found that actually stay in my ears. Read More
