Continue ReadingTwo and a half years in, I’m still happy with my standing desk. I stand about 90% of the time without lowering the desk to sitting level (though after Gen Con this year I did have to take a seat for a couple of days), and occasionally I’ll lower it slightly to use the Wobble Stool or Focal Upright stool. Recently I got to try another option, one that keeps me on my feet but makes me a little more active while I type: the FluidStance Level.
Continue ReadingI’ve been attending some gaming conventions in the past few years, and I’ve been refining the set of things I carry around with me during the day. There are still a few tweaks I’d probably make for next time, but while it’s fresh in my mind I thought I’d share some of the essentials I had at Gen Con this year.

Continue ReadingWe use a lot of scrap paper: my wife writes notes for the kids before she leaves for work in the morning; I’ll grab paper to jot down a correct spelling or help my kids work out a math problem; my kids doodle constantly and their drawings accumulate around the house like fallen leaves, eventually to be scooped up and tossed into the recycling bin. While I doubt I’ll ever be a totally paperless house, the Boogie Board can replace at least some of those uses.
