A new collectible LEGO set celebrates the hit Netflix original series Stranger Things with an incredible twist on other builds: taking inspiration from the show’s idea of a dark, nightmare mirror version of our world that is just a hairs-breadth away. “The Upside Down” features a model of the Byer’s house (with Will’s bedroom, the living room, and the dining room) that sits on top of an upside-down version with the dark, vine-covered, dilapidated look that fans will recognize as the terrifying Upside Down from the series. The amazing part is that the entire model can be flipped over to sit “upside down up” (or is it downside up?).
Also included in the set is Chief Jim Hopper’s police truck with a pumpkin element (remember that from season 2?) and eight Stranger Things mini-figs: Eleven, Mike Wheeler, Lucas Sinclair, Dustin Henderson, Will Byers, Joyce Byers, Chief Jim Hopper, and the Demogorgon! My favorite surprise in the Upside Down set is the famous alphabet wall that includes a fantastic light-up function.

We were invited to a special after-hours launch event for fans at the LEGO Store in the Flatiron District of New York City to get a first look at the new set and share the experience. A LEGO Master Builder was on hand to build an Upside Down set during the event, and a life-size, LEGO-style representation of the Byers’ living room with alphabet wall.

The Stranger Things Upside Down collectible set includes over 2,200 pieces and is separated so the real world and the Upside Down can be built at the same time for an amazing shared build experience. The finished model is over 12” tall, 17” wide, and 8” deep. The set will be available for $199.99 directly from LEGO Stores and online at shop.LEGO.com from June 1, 2019 (but it’s already available if you are a LEGO VIP).
So go fight your own Demogorgon, or eat your own waffles… whatever you want to build.
