Thirty years ago this month, The Karate Kid made its debut. Even today, I find myself yelling “Put’em in a bodybag!” for no reason.
The Karate Kid was like Rocky for kids, and it made karate kind of cool when I was younger. For those of you who do not know what I am talking about, the movie is about Mr. Miyagi (Noriyuki βPatβ Morita) teaching Daniel (Ralph Macchio) about catching flys with chopsticks, how to do home repair, and some karate. Daniel also finds love and friendship after he has his leg swept and Mr. Miyagi fixes it with magic hand heat. It inspired several uninspiring sequels in 1986, 1989, 1994, and 2010.
In honor of Daniel-san’s sweeping victory 30 years ago, TV Store Online is going to give one of our lucky readers $50 worth of Karate Kid merchandise!

Well, technically 2010 was a re-make I think. However, it certainly didn’t surpass the original.
“Fear does not exist in THIS dojo”.
I’m not ashamed at all that I immediately caught that error. Banzai!
