Announcing the 2024 American Tabletop Award Winners

Today the results of the American Tabletop Awards were announced for 2024! Each of the four categories has a Winner, Recommended titles, and Nominated titles. I’m a member of the ATTA panel along with a bunch of other folks in the world of tabletop games, and it’s always fun (and challenging!) to hash out our list of games to consider—you may recognize some of the titles in this post from our own coverage on GeekDad, though there are also some that don’t overlap. (I’ve included links to GeekDad reviews when available.)

Blob Party - American Tabletop Early Gamers Award

The Early Gamers winner is Blob Party, a cooperative party game about matching other people’s answers, and making a literal blob out of clay. It’s designed by Pam Walls and published by WizKids. Recommended titles are Chicken! and Deep Dive. The Nominated titles are Turbo Kidz and Maple Valley.

Sea Salt & Paper American Tabletop Casual Games Award

The Casual Games winner is Sea Salt & Paper, a set-collection game with origami illustrations and a bit of press your luck. It was designed by Bruno Cathala and Théo Rivière and published by Pandasaurus Games. The Recommended titles are Dorfromantik: The Board Game and Next Station: Tokyo. The Nominated titles are Fit to Print and My Island.

Thunder Road: Vendetta American Tabletop Strategy Games Award

The Strategy Games winner is Thunder Road: Vendetta, a smash-and-crash racing game through an apocalyptic wasteland. It’s designed by Dave Chalker, Brett Myers, Noah Cohen, Rob Daviau, Justin D. Jacobson, Jim Keifer, and Brian Neff and published by Restoration Games. The Recommended titles are Daybreak and The Fox Experiment. The Nominated titles are Forest Shuffle and Kinfire Chronicles: Night’s Fall.

The White Castle American Tabletop Complex Games Award

The Complex Games winner is The White Castle, a worker placement game set in Himeji Castle. It’s designed by Sheila Santos and Israel Cendrero and published by Devir. The Recommended titles are Nucleum and Earth. The Nominated titles are Dune Imperium: Uprising and Motor City.
