Yesterday, Netflix dropped the first full trailer for Daredevil season two. As dark and conflicted as season one was, season two is looking to blow it away.
We get to see a whole lot of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher in this trailer. The more I see him as Frank Castle, the more I can’t imagine anyone else being cast in this role. Bernthal does an amazing job of embodying The Punisher, and I can’t wait to see more. He is silent, haunting, and even creepy. Bernthal really does look like Steve Dillon’s art come to life.
While we don’t ever get to see him in his trademark skull shirt, there is a nod to it.
We do, however, get to see Daredevil in his costume a whole lot more than in season one. And in an interesting take to make it even more realistic, it seems that, as the season progresses, his costume takes quite the beating and gets hastily repaired–white stitching across the face and a glove wrapped in duct tape–a seemingly small detail that really adds to the gritty realism of the show.
Season one heavily explored the theme of good and evil and where the line between ends justifying the means lay, and this season will be no different. At one point, probably when he has Daredevil all chained up, Castle says, “You know you’re one bad day away from being me.”
We even get a glimpse of Elodie Yung as Elektra at the very end of the trailer. The next trailer drops on February 25th, and, hopefully, we’ll get to see more of her then.
