There is nothing more enlightening than a child’s innocent worldview during a time of tragedy. In the shadow of the recent and horrific terrorist attacks in Paris comes a glimmer of light from this beautiful conversation between a father, his son and a French media reporter from Le Petit Journal.
This video made me think of a recent piece I wrote for GeekDad titled “Hard Truths: A Parental Responsibility to Address Tragedy.” As this father proves, it is possible to keep a child’s optimism and innocence intact without denying them the truths of the world – no matter how terrible those truths may be. Conversations like this are necessary. As you see, sometimes the strongest truth of all may be the hopeful and compassionate comprehension of a child.
