Since I last covered Sword & Sorcery, their Kickstarter campaign has funded at over four times their target goal and is currently gobbling up Stretch Goals like a voracious beast. Which is appropriate, because in addition to more heroes, cursed werewolf heroes, alternate poses for enemy figures, new Master Enemies, and additional quests and tiles, Ares Games has announced an expansion featuring their biggest “mini” yet: Vastaryous – a truly impressive five-headed dragon!

The “Vastaryous’ Lair” expansion lets characters progress past the unlocked Act II of the base game. To get to the scaly doombringer, heroes will have to fight their way through orc tribes and Drakonic guards. Vastaryous itself is a suitably epic challenge, with each head representing its own separate entity, with its own attacks and powers. Players will even be able to run a Raid mode that lets up to ten heroes take on the five-headed beast.

Ever since that first Saturday morning, when I watched the opening of the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon and watched Tiamat lumber onto the screen, I’ve been a huge fan of multi-headed dragons. This is one of the best renderings I’ve seen of such a beast (second only to the enormous dragon that Reaper Minis included in their Bones 3 campaign). The fact that Vastaryous comes with a detailed quest, drakonic attendants (did I mention I’m also a huge Dragonlance fan?), and extra game modes, makes it that much better.

If you haven’t backed Sword & Sorcery yet, there’s a little less than two weeks to go. At the rate they’re knocking out Stretch Goals, this is promising to be a truly epic game!

  1. I am interested in backing but concerned about the shipping. Any ideas what that might cost to the US?
