  1. My wife and had a lot of fun reading the books!

We just had our second baby (a boy!) and my wife has already started making preparations to make sure we can leave the kids with their grandparents so we can go see the film.

  2. This may sound strange, but I am partly looking forward to the movie because since Harry Potter ended, I miss looking forward to a movie. I really hope this movie is awesome as I am looking forward to looking forward to two (or three) more movies. I am addicted to the slow burn of anticipated movies – the teaser trailer, the full trailers in HD, buying tickets ahead of time, and the culmination of a midnight showing. I love the camaraderie of a midnight showing where everyone is vested in the movie and get the same references you do. It’s one of the few times these days you feel connected to strangers if you are not into sports.

  3. I’m looking forward to the movies because I love to see the movie about something before reading the book. This limits any possible disappointment which may arise from items missing from the books.

That and my wife read all the books and is excited about seeing the movies.

  4. My wife read all three books in a period of about four days. I would love to surprise her with the package when we go see the movie!

  5. The first book was part of the reading list in a college class I took as a senior. I’m excited to see if they keep all the themes and topics covered in the book in the movie.

  6. For some reason I haven’t read these books yet, but this is the first movie trailer I’ve seen that has caught my attention in a long time. First I have to get the books (there’s 167 people waiting for the copy at my library!) then see the movie!

  7. Oh! I love this series. It looks like they’re doing a great job with the adaptation and I’m always super excited to see the interpretations of the stories I love!

  8. I am looking forward to the movie because I have heard so much about the Hunger Games Trilogy. Both my sisters have been addicted to the books for the past month. I am trully team PEETA! I can’t wait to see how the big screen protrays his noble character. My eldest sister is actually turning 28 this Friday and I am hoping to win this giveaway for her. I know she would love it!

  9. I’ve heard how amazing the books are and can’t wait to see what all the hype is about. I think the trilogy is going to probably be as big as harry potter. I am particularly looking forward to see some action-packed fighting.

  10. Also, I have a 15 daughter and I am glad that there is a strong female heroine that she can read about in fiction stories.

  11. I love epic fantasy style movies, and my husband has loved the books, so I’m really looking forward to seeing this film (and then reading all the books myself). 🙂

    Teresa

  12. I can’t wait for The Hunger Games because i have read all of the books in the trilogy! I can’t wait, i read the Hunger Games in like a day, i couldn’t put the book down!

  13. I am an avid Sci-Fi reader—in fact, that is all I read these days. I read the trilogy before they were even popular and told everyone I knew to read this great series. In fact, those were the last three books I read. I stopped reading. After reading these beautifully written stories I was sure to be disappointed by whatever I picked up next, so I had to put some distance between her writing and who will follow. Suzanne Collins has inspired me to take up the pen and I promised myself I would not read another book until I got through the first draft of my own. I am now half way through and whenever I feel a slight block, I think back to her books and how they made me feel so transported. It is that power of a writer I find so amazing. Thank you Suzanne—thank you.

  14. It’s a family thing! Both my wife and son have read all three so we are excited to see the movie. Plus it is my son’s birthday, turning twelve, so we are having a district 12 party after we see it.

  15. The books were amazing! I can’t wait to see how the costumes turn out for the “girl who was on fire”!

  16. I love the book but after seeing the trailer I an really looking forward to the film’s score!

  17. The books were awesome. I cannot wait to see the universe and characters on screen. On a shallow note….Gale and Peeta aren’t hurting anything either!

  18. My wife and I both enjoyed the books. While the coming of age era of stories usually turns me off right away, the setting and general classification of “Sci-Fi” prompted me to try. The story holds such a grave seriousness about that life, responsibility, choices and consequences ( much like the Ender’s Game series) that I couldn’t put it down. The story reads like a hi-stakes poker game, each side bluffing, manuevering and jockying for a dominate position. The charactera are rich and colorful in their development. I really hope it translates well onto the screen. “Down with the Capitol!”

  19. I’m looking forward to seeing the movie because the Hunger Games is one of my favorite book series. Movies based on books are hit or miss so I am hoping that this one will be great and true to the book.

  20. I can’t wait because it really seems from the trailer that they are actually following the books. I would love to see the books I love presented to the world in an authentic way!

  21. I remember devouring all three books in row. The violence and terror were balanced nicely with really well developed charatcers. I can’t wait to see those characters and the arenas come to life.

  22. My wife and I are looking forward to seeing how they translate the arena and the action of the Games onto the big screen!

  23. I am looking forward to the movie because my son is a huge fan of the books. He just finished reading them a second time. He read the entirety of the third book yesterday.

  24. I’m entering for a friend. She’s a single mom who reads the books with her jr high aged son. I’d love to be able to give this to her! It would make her day!

  25. My twin 12 year old boys are completely swept up in this story. It has challenged them as they’re noticeably uncomfortable with some of the storylines, but they were both unable to do anything else while reading the books. I’d love to surprise them with such a cool package!

  26. It’s always interesting to see how books translate onto film- each an art of its own. Looking forward to the music as well.

  27. I teach 6th grade computer skills in a small town. The Hunger Games is one of the favorites with students and teachers alike. I have an assignment in which the students make a bookmark based on their favorite book. The Hunger Games had the most bookmarks made.
I am looking forward to The Hunger Games movie coming out because it will be a big social event in our town as well as enjoying the movie. The Harry Potter movies and the Twilight movies were midnight showings with students, parents, and teachers attending. It is great seeing my past students and my present students filling the theater…we’re so small that we only have one screen.

  28. Everyone in the family has read the series prior to the first movie release. This should be fun!

  29. Looking forward to it because my daughter is so excited — teens don’t get excited about much. She even talked my parents into reading the books!

  30. We just read the book for book club last month and I’m really looking forward to watching it with my husband!

  31. I am looking forward to the movie mostly to compare and contrast the book with film. I want to see how the visions in my head parallel with the writers and director’s vision.

  32. To be completely honest, I haven’t read the novels (yet), but seeing a film that actually has an interesting plot and three dimensional characters will be an enormously refreshing change of pace.

  33. I want to see if they translated the book in a way that matched what my imagination came up with. I already think Peeta looks a little different from what I was picturing but Effie is spot on. I love Cinna. He’s the fun side of crazy so getting to see him will be nice too.

  34. My daughter is 12. There are few books that appear on both of our highly recommend book lists. Remember how the releasing of the Harry Potter books were such events? There would be midnight parties at our local book shop and my daughter and I would go. I’m missing those days and would love to give this prize to her. Also, to see Lenny Kravitz as Cinna. Personally I had Tim Gunn from Project Runway in mind but it will be interesting to see Kravitz’s interpretation.

  35. It’s nice to see a teenage girl character who isn’t entirely self-absorbed. While Kat has bits of melodrama in the romance department, her overall goals are to care for her family and the people of her district. She fights for what is right. I appreciate this outlook, especially since most teenage characters have a narrower perspective.

  36. First 3 books i have read since high school… I read the first page of the first book and i couldn’t stop until i finished them all!

  37. As a middle school teacher, I’ve seen some kids obsessed by books and others who won’t touch a book to save their lives. However, I have also seen kids get excited by books we are excited about and of course, kids who get into a book or series when a movie comes out. As excited as I am to see the movie, I’m excited that it might get more kids to read.

  38. I’m a teacher and we read the first two books as a class. It isn’t a small feat getting 25+ fourth, fifth, AND sixth graders interested in the same book-much less WANTING to read it! We are sooo excited to see the movie! We’ve watched the trailer I don’t know how many times and have critiqued the cast and how/if they line up to Ms. Collins’ description of the characters in the books. Anyway-I’d love to win this (and so would my kiddos!!!

  39. I’m looking forward to the Hunger Games movie because, 1) I really enjoyed the book, and 2) it’s the first movie, EVER, that our group of friends has all wanted to see. Date night!

  40. My daughter and I had a great time reading this book. It sparked some great conversations about government, morality, ethics, religion and more. We both learned a lot from each other and grrew closer by reading this together. Can’t wait to see the movie!!!

  41. I am looking forward to The Hunger Games because it means I finally get to take my teenage son to a movie that we both are equally excited to see together.

  42. I’m mostly looking forward to seeing how the story translates into the big screen visually; what the Capital looks like, Effie’s crazy outfits and accents, Caesar’s bizarre look….those things. That, and the relationship with Katniss and Peta!

  43. I’m looking forward to the movie because my son had such a good time reading the book. 🙂

  44. I’m looking forward to the movie because I just picked up the books not long ago and I always enjoy a good futuristic style story. I read the first book in one night. It has enough of a “this could happen” kind of vibe to keep me interested. I always like to see how a movie made from a book comes out too. Sometimes they are great and sometimes not so great. Here’s hoping this one is great!

  45. I’m not a “young adult” but as soon as I started the first book I was hooked, despite the reading level. I love reading, but it’s rare to find a story that is so compelling. I can’t wait to see what they do to the movie because it has the potential to be great.
