Cultural theft or enrichment for a European Museum?

Friends Timi, Sango, and Gbonka reunite on the eve of the British Museum’s historic purchase of the works of Timi’s father, Nigerian artist Adewale Balogun.

The masks Adewale has made honor ancient demigods. Warriors and cunning artificers that brough back to their community new tricks and wealth. They were meant to be revered in their homeland, not become objects of display in London.

The idea is to steal back the artworks, and soon, the daring heists the group performs start spiraling into the profitable world of auctions and stolen goods inside Nigeria itself. Are the trio trying to achieve something unattainable?

I have to say that the constant shift between different sets and situations felt too cinematic and fast-paced to me. I kept having to go back and see where I missed the plot twist. Too many of those can make the reading experience difficult. The idea is very good, though, and is pursued with a passion by the authors and the talented pen of Alexandre Tefengki.
