This year marks 35 years since The Karate Kid debuted in theaters. To commemorate the milestone, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is releasing the film on home video in 4k Ultra HD today.
Last week, I had the opportunity to talk with franchise star Ralph Macchio about the legacy of the series, as well as about the second season of Cobra Kai, which premieres next Wednesday, April 24, on YouTube.
“You know, the themes resonate. The themes of bullying, of being a child of a single parent, trying to fit in, fish out of water, overcoming obstacles, finding your place, and finding ‘balance’ in your life. These are all things that will never go out of style when well executed.”
