You’re probably not a VHS collector like me, but thanks to Walmart and Lionsgate, you can get in on the retro VHS vibe while still enjoying modern technology. Coming hot off the heels of exclusive Deadpool Blu-ray covers for various movies, Walmart brings a treasure trove of VHS-themed artwork for Lionsgate releases. The VHS-themed packaging is available for 12 movies including:
- First Blood
- The Crow
- Young Guns
- John Wick
- Power Rangers
- Dirty Dancing
- Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers
- 3:10 to Yuma
- Terminator 2: Judgement Day
- Total Recall
Astute readers will recognize that many of the VHS-themed covers look familiar since most are reissues of classic movies that actually had VHS releases back in the day. Oddly enough, my favorite retro flashback cover comes from one of the three modern-day releases that were never on VHS—John Wick. Check out the spot-on sleeve design for John Wick below (complete with faux staff picks and late fee stickers). Yes, the Blu-rays themselves still maintain their modern designs, but why would anyone want that, when they can have more retro goodness in their lives?
Be sure to check out these Lionsgate Blu-ray releases exclusively at Walmart. However, if you want actual VHS tapes, you’re left rummaging through the $.50 bin at your local flea market.
Disclaimer: I received review copies of these movies. All opinions are my own. No late fees were incurred and I always remember to rewind.
