Kickstarter Alert: ‘Eye of the Beholder: The Art of Dungeons & Dragons’

Entertainment Movies

Not quite a year and a half ago, we shared the first trailer for Eye of the Beholder: The Art of Dungeons & Dragons, a documentary on the artists and artwork behind the last forty-plus years of the classic fantasy roleplaying game. With an eye (Several eyes. On stalks. Shooting magic rays.) on premiering the finished movie at this year’s Gen Con, the filmmakers have launched a Kickstarter to get things wrapped up in post-production.

If you’re a fan of this type of thing—it teams up Brian Stillman (Plastic Galaxy: The Story of Star Wars Toys) with Kelley Slagle and Seth Polansky (Cavegirl Productions’ Of Dice and Men)a copy of the movie alone may be enough to entice you to back the project. Here’s a peek at some of the interviewees:

Various backer levels include some pretty neat stuff, like signed prints from the likes of Larry Elmore, Erol Otus, Brom, Todd Lockwood, Jennell Jaquays, and Tony DiTerlizzi, and swag featuring a new, exclusive D&D-themed art piece from Jeff Easley.

The Kickstarter ends at 9 p.m. March 15th, and you can find out more on the Eye of the Beholder Facebook page.
