Kermit-Flail for the Muppets Live and in the Felt at the Hollywood Bowl

Last year, when Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem played San Francisco’s Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival, I was hopeful such a live show, featuring the Muppets in their puppet form, might take their show cross country for a proper tour. No luck. This weekend, however, the Muppets have an all-new live event taking place in Hollywood and giving hope once more that the Muppets might eventually hit the road.

All this weekend (September 8-10) at LA’s famed Hollywood Bowl, the Muppets are taking over for an event aptly titled The Muppets Take the Bowl. Unlike the Electric Mayhem show, this is more than a concert. The show features Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, and the entire Muppet cast starring together in a live stage show akin to The Muppet Show, with music, classic and new sketch comedy, and more. The show’s promoters are even hinting at Muppets who haven’t been seen in 35 years making cameos throughout the weekend!

As an east coaster, I’m envious of anyone able to attend and hopeful that a show like this will eventually take the Muppet performers on the road for the kind of tour and live puppetry the world could use right about now. For those who are on the west coast, tickets are available for all three days of performances by visiting the Hollywood Bowl website
