For those of you anxiously awaiting the release of Betrayal at House on the Hill‘s first expansion Widow’s Walk, GeekDad got an exclusive look at a new Room Tile and an Event Card with finished artwork and mechanics.
The Menagerie looks like a scene from a Saw movie or the lab of a mad scientist experimenting on animals. Cages line one wall, and absorbent straw litters the ground, perfect for concealing any blood or body fluids. A shovel and a pitchfork lean ominously against the doorframe.
The experimentation here must have been successful, though, because once per game, if you end your turn in The Menagerie, you can gain a physical trait. The tile also utilizes the new dumbwaiter mechanics for traveling between floors and the new Explorer Tokens.
They’ve also shown us an all new Event Card – Misty Arch. Have you ever seen a random door with mist billowing toward you and thought to yourself, “Hmm. I wonder what would happen if I just moseyed on through?” You have? Well, now you can actually find out!
Players can choose to pass through the Misty Arch and trigger its effect. Once through the door, they remove their player token from the board and roll three dice to determine where the door will take them.
