This week, it’s a total geekout as we welcome Leland Chee to the show. If you’re a Star Wars nerd, odds are you know who Leland is. Unofficially known as the Keeper of the Holocron, he’s part of the mysterious Lucasfilm Story Group, and it’s his job to maintain a cohesive Star Wars canon. Basically, he’s the puppet master of what’s official and how it all connects. He knows all.

In addition to the official film/book/comic universe, he also oversees the LEGO Star Wars universe and was on the team that helped bring the brand-new LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures to life. The Freemaker Adventures is a new show on Disney XD that premiered this week, and you really should be watching it. It’s the first time a LEGO Star Wars show has told an original story, and it really is the best of Star Wars and the best of LEGO thrown into a blender.

On this episode, we talk to Leland about the new show, his career with Lucasfilm pre- and post-Disney, Expanded Universe versus Legends, his role in the Story Group, fan entitlement, and what it’s like to know everything about the upcoming films. Trust me, this one was tough. It was so hard not to pry and get him to spill some secrets.

I mean, think about it. He knows who Rey’s parents are! And a bunch of other stuff we don’t even know to ask yet! This episode was basically a lesson in self-control.

But wait! That’s not all! After our chat with Leland, we also talk to The Freemaker Adventures executive producers and show runners Bill Motz and Bob Roth. We geek out a little more about the show and dive into a bit of their history working together (they’ve worked as a team for much of their careers) – in fact, they both began as writers on Darkwing Duck! If for no other reason, that means they immediately make the GBBP wall of fame.
