When I first checked out cooperative sci-fi boardgame Space Movers last year, one of the things I found most intriguing was how simply the already impressive offering of the core game could be extended. Specifically the Objective cards, each of which must be successfully completed before moving to the next, control the “story” of each play session, and expanding the game into new thematic territory could really be as easy as offering more five-card Objective packs.
Kevin Cox (the “K” in KnA games) suggested plans to do just that when we talked at a fantastic play event in North Carolina, but a new Kickstarter campaign suggests they’ve done even more. The Space Movers 2202 expansion actually boasts three different 15-card packs–the Objective Expansion Pack, Challenge Expansion Pack, and Bounty Hunter Expansion Pack–as well as a Universal Oversight mouse pad/roll mat with four auto-fail target areas.
Between them, you’re looking at not only more Objectives, but more Events, UO Pursuits, and the addition of the new Bounty Hunter mechanic to further challenge your crew. Space Movers noobs can get in on the action of the original base game and all the expanded goodness for $68, but us old hands can snatch up the new hotness for a mere $18!
With 20 days to go, the campaign is successfully funded, and stretch goals are already being unlocked. All this means that, appropriately enough, the sky’s the limit for your continued adventures in the world of Space Movers.
