‘The Force Awakens’ Given Stamp of Approval

Entertainment Featured Geek Culture

StarWars_Standard First Day Cover_LargeThe Royal Mail of Great Britain has announced that it is to issue a new set of stamps to commemorate the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Nineteen stamps featuring characters and vehicles from all of the films in the franchise will be available. As one might expect, the quality of the images is excellent. I don’t normally get over-excited by film merchandise, but there’s something about these stamps that has rekindled my anticipation in a way Force Friday completely failed to do.

There are a whole host of options available for both Star Wars fans and die-hard stamp collectors, including a first day cover and postcard size reproductions of the stamps. The difficulty will be choosing which ones not to buy.  A full list is available here.

Curiously, there was also something called the “Prestige Stamp Book” on the Royal Mail website when I started writing this article, but during the day it has been removed. It looked very impressive, so I hope it reappears soon. Reference to it is made to it in this stamp collecting blog.

The stamps will be issued on 10/20/2015 but are available for pre-order now. Postage times along the Kessel run are not currently available.
