On Friday, January 3rd, about 60 middle and high school teams will come together at Sunset Station in San Antonio, Texas, to test their mettle, and metal, in a day of robot competition. The event is hosted by the US Army in conjunction with a little larger event happening on Saturday in the Alamodome. We don’t expect to see near the 40,000 spectators that the All American Bowl will draw, but we will certainly be as energetic and cheer our favorite teams to victory.

We attended this event last year, and my daughter is here again competing as team 9999. If you are in the San Antonio and have a couple free hours this afternoon, please drop by Sunset Station to see some kids fired up about technology. The event starts about 9am and matches will be run through about 5:30 or 6pm. Parking might be tough, but it’s a close walk from many parking garages near Highway 281 and East Commerce. If you do make it, please find me and say hi. I’ll be the guy with a Make robot bandana and beard.

For more information on the event, and directions to the venue, check out the event page on RobotEvents.com.
