There Is a House in New Orleans…

Places

…”they call the Rising Sun.”

The rising sun is exactly what a group of Lego fans got to see when they stayed up all night during the company’s first ever all-night building event in New Orleans. To kick off the Bricktober 2012 season, these fans of all ages helped Lego Builders build Lord Vampyre – the lead villain of the new Lego Monster Fighters construction collection. This version of Lord Vampyre happened to be 10 feet tall, however, and consisted of several thousand Lego bricks.

LEGO Vampire in New OrleansLEGO Vampire in New OrleansThis was truly a celebration worthy of the Big Easy. There was a party-like atmosphere the entire night with costume contests and side builds of many of the new Monster Fighters sets. Everyone in attendance left with a sense of accomplishment and several loose bricks. I believe I even saw the vampire Lestat having a good time along with a few other New Orleans vamps.

The Lego Monster Fighters website has all the information on this new collection. There is a couple of hours of family entertainment on the site, in the form of games and videos to enjoy also. Speaking of entertainment, Lego is offering a free mobile game, called Lego Monsters Fighters Race for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch can be downloaded in the App Store on iTunes.

LEGO Last BrickLEGO Last BrickNew Lego Monster Fighters sets involves a background story where classic movie monsters seek to gain artifacts that will allow them to bathe the world in continuous darkness. It is up to the “Monster Fighters” get these artifacts from the mummy, the werewolf, the swamp creature, Lord Vampyre, ghosts, zombies and the mad scientist.

It would be nice if you could buy zombies by the dozen, but for now my Walking Dead diorama will have to make do with the two that I have. Speaking of which, I have picked up the Lord Vampyre’s Castle to be reviewed here at a later time, so stay tuned.
