Today’s release of the new posters for The Hunger Games movie couldn’t be more timely for me. I began the trilogy on a whim Monday during a long flight when I found my husband had added the books to my Kindle. Three days later, I’m finished, thanks to books that refused to be put down, even when I knew I should be sleeping.
Never have I seen a set of actors in a movie or TV adaptation so precisely match the image I had of a book’s characters in my mind. The only exception is Lenny Kravitz as Cinna, and as soon as I saw the glint of gold eyeliner, Kravitz took the place of my previous mental image of Cinna.

Just read all three over a weekend about a month ago — same as you, I couldn’t put them down. I know Rue has always been meant to be young but it didn’t really hit home for me till seeing her poster. Wow! Oh, I can’t wait for these movies!
I envisioned Haymitch as fatter than Woody Harrelson but I think it’s because I tend to equate lots of drinking with a pot belly or something. I have to remember that in District 12, he couldn’t have gotten THAT fat, even as a Victor with endless food rations.
Effie’s character looks amazing and I’m excited to see how they depict other Capitol characters, who dye their skin and tattoo tiger stripes on their bodies.
