Since I began singing at geeky cons, I have been told to look into Arisia — a sci-fi/fantasy convention in Boston. I was told that this was my crowd, they would appreciate my geeky music, they were…older. Many geek conventions are for the anime/gaming crowd where the average age is sixteen, and not big on acoustic music.
Now, my daughter is 15 and likes all kinds of music, especially if it is quirky. She agreed to be the drummer for my new band, The Subs. I decided the band (together a whole four months) should go on a road trip and hang at a geeky con. Ok, I wanted to hang at a geeky con. But finding ways to combine fun, music and my kids is a handy skill. So, The Subs performed at Arisia this past weekend, and had a very good time.
