Spooky Q: “The Raven” Performed By John de Lancie

People

Most of us have heard Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven performed, quoted or parodied in part or in whole so many times that the narrator’s intended terror and madness have long been lost.

John de Lancie — forever known as Q to geeks around the world — goes a long way toward recapturing The Raven‘s darkness in this Halloween-appropriate video from science fiction collectibles company Quantum Mechanix:

De Lancie himself is producing the Master Series videos for QMx, which describes the project as “the classics of science fiction, fantasy and horror, performed by some of the best-known names in genre entertainment.” (De Lancie’s body of science fiction work, of course, includes roles on the original Battlestar Galactica, Stargate SG-1 and the short-lived Legend.) The company’s YouTube channel also includes a six-part video of Jane Espenson and Tim Minear talking about writing at the Serenity L.A. con in 2009.

What better way to teach youngsters that Q is more than a letter, and a Poe can be spooky well beyond the boundaries of Hyrule?
