The Serpent in the Garden: Ed Grey and the Last Battle for England # 2

Comic Books Entertainment Reviews

Ed Grey and the Last Battle for England Writer: Mike Mignola Artist: Ben Stenbeck Colorist: Dave Stewart Letterer: Clem Robins Cover Artist: Ben Stenbeck

Avalon, the primal England, must be fought over. Witchfinder Ed Grey is summoned by Alice, queen of the last standing realm on earth, to defend her and England against Morgan Le Fay and her champion.

Morgan Le Fay has had an interesting run in the Mignolaverse, fighting and enabling some of the most powerful witches of the realm to thrive. Queen Mab is dead and now she turns to the Gruagach of Lough Leane for help. An Irish fairy creature who once faced Hellboy, he is now ready to fight for the fairy folk instead of disappearing from the human realm forever.

“But if there must be an end, let it be loud. Let it be bloody. Better to burn than to wither away in the dark. Not to go quiet… not to go unnoticed… Oh you gods of war… let it be war.”

So now the green Ed Grey, turned into a green sprite, armed with the first word forged after the destruction of Earth, faces the dark Gruagach, and the battle will be terrible, and perhaps he will not win it.
