Ray: This series continues to be a no-holds-barred slugfest, which means it’s plenty of fun for DC fans and monsterverse fans alike. When we last left off, Superman and Kong were facing off, with Kong being from an earlier point in the timeline and not respecting the heroes yet. With Superman’s powers weakened on Hollow Earth, this is an uphill battle – but it’s not the main attraction, as Godzilla is coming. The giant nuke lizard killed Superman last time (he got better), so this raises the stakes dramatically and terrifies Lois Lane. Even an assist from Supergirl and other heroes can’t turn the tables, so it’s time for Mr. Terrific’s latest innovation. As Shaw and Luthor continue to scheme, we get our first look at what the serum that King Shark used in the first issue can do to a human – and it’s not an entirely pretty picture. Especially excited with the big debuts at the end of the issue, which raise the stakes nicely.

Teen Titans Go! – Ivan Cohen, Writer; Marcelo Di Chiara, Artist; Carrie Strachan, Colorist

Ray – 8.5/10

Ray: This series is pretty unpredictable – some issues lean way too hard into the cartoon’s…divisive sense of humor, while others get into some hardcore DC lore. This is the latter, which finds the Titans approached by the Legion of Super-Heroes to come to the future. When they arrive, they’re told they can compete for a spot in the Legion – but only one of them can get in. This is all a little suspicious – as is the fact that their timeline is kind of spotty, and they have their codenames printed on their uniforms. It’s a funny issue with some great action scenes courtesy of the Legion testing the Titans in various obstacle courses, but there’s actually a pretty solid mystery to the whole thing. It reminds me a lot in tone of the work Cohen did on the various Scooby-Doo series that he collaborated on with Sholly Fisch. More of this brand of silliness in this series, please.
