Ray: The battle with the Sovereign is wrapping up in , and we have no confirmation of what comes after besides the fact that Tom King will be writing a Trinity solo series. So if this is the last act of this run, it’s definitely going out with a bang. Over the last two issues, we have seen the Wonder Girls systematically dismantle the Sovereign’s financial holdings while Detective Chimp obsessively investigated him until he had enough to take the story of his secret cult to the media. And now, the Sovereign has retreated to his massive historic manor with Wonder Woman’s deadliest villains as his bodyguards. And while Diana busies herself with an art project and talks to her baby daughter, it’s time for the Wonder Girls to strike once again – each targeting one of the villains in a particularly brutal fight, starting with Donna Troy and Gigana having a battle that literally shakes the house to its foundations.

Attack. Via DC Comics.

Yara Flor takes on Silver Swan, the sharp-bladed resenter. This is kind of an odd choice, since Vanessa has a very personal grudge against Cassie. The youngest Wonder Girl, meanwhile, takes on Angle Man, whose abilities at warping reality are on full display in some very disturbing ways. All three struggle to gain control of the fight against the villains at first, but it soon becomes clear that they’re not fighting alone. The way the stages of the fight bleed into each other is really interesting, and it all builds towards a showdown with the brutal Grail and eventually targeting the Sovereign himself. He escapes for a final showdown, and his choice of a final hideout is definitely a pointed commentary, but we know Wonder Woman herself is coming for him. The depiction of Diana’s quiet rage, driven by her love for the fallen Steve Trevor, has done an amazing job of building the stakes sky high for the final chapters.
