It’s been a hot minute since we last updated on the latest improvements from Roborock, and we have a lot of great updates.

First, the newest in the “S” series is the latest and greatest flagship model: the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra.
Drawing on the company’s commitment to research and development, the biggest pain points from previous units are resolved:
- Deep cleaning and edge cleaning ability. Featuring the new FlexiArm Design side brush (which automatically extends the side brush when corners and low areas under furniture are detected… providing 99% corner coverage) and the 185rpm rotating extra edge mopping system.
- The cleaning system improves the pair of rollers in the DuoRoller brush to 10,000Pa of suction power and upgrades the VibraRise mopping system (providing even more clearance when the mop automatically rises to clear surfaces that should not be mopped).
- Complete self-maintenance that includes a cleaning solution dispenser and heated washing and drying of the mop (preventing mold and odor). For the first time ever, you have the option to connect the RoboDock Ultra to your home’s plumbing to drain and replenish the robot’s water.
- The navigation system is upgraded with the PreciSense LiDAR navigation with Reactive AI 2.0 Obstacle Recognition—improving the avoidance strategy that recognizes everything from shoes to floor mirrors and even accidental pet waste.
- “Intelligent Dirt Detection” senses when the mop is highly soiled to immediately wash the mop and then re-mop the area.

The “Q” series robot vacuums have been updated across the entire family:
- The QRevo Master has similar features to the S8 MaxV Ultra at a more affordable price.
- The QRevo Pro, which is now available in-store at many Target locations, and the vacuum-only Q5 Max+.
- Q5 Max+ is a vacuum-only model.
Real-World Review
My family and I have been using a Roborock robot vacuum for years, but just last month we really put “Sabrina” to the test…
We had a full bottle of Torani syrup that fell off the counter and shattered all over the kitchen floor, leaving an incredibly gooey mess with tiny shards of broken glass. The kids tried to clean it up, scooping it with a dustpan until they decided that it was so sticky that boiling water would allow them to mop the remainder. It did help but it also spread the diluted syrup to every corner of the kitchen.
By the time I got home that night, the floor had dried into an adhesive that would pull your socks off, and I heard the famous “What now, Dad?” A call to Torani suggested using a gentle powdered cleanser with further mopping, rinse, and repeat. I sprinkled some Bon Ami powder on the floor and set our Roborock S8 Pro Ultra to task: two heavy scrub mopping cycles and then a return to the dock to clean the mop. Another dusting of Bon Ami with another double cycle and mop wash then another, and another. When we finally emptied the dirty water tank it had a delightful hazelnut scent, and our kitchen floor was spotless.
