The Glass Cannon Network has been captivating audiences with their top-tier actual-play since the inception of their show in 2015. Their epic multi-year run of Pathfinder First Edition’s Giant Slayer on their flagship production, the Glass Cannon Podcast made an epic 326 episode run and is a must-listen for any fantasy RPG fan. They have grown since then, with their network featuring at least 19 shows playing Pathfinder, D&D, Delta Green, and many other systems, with audio podcasts, video, pre-recorded and live streams, as well as live in-person shows.
For the uninitiated, “actual play” is a genre of entertainment where people play tabletop role playing games and share with an audience through podcasts, livestreams, videos, or the like. The Glass Cannon crew provide some of the best produced and most entertaining actual plays in the industry. I find their content a perfect fit for me, including plenty of story and roleplaying while also providing a healthy dose and exposure to the rules of the game. With their distinctive blend of comedy, roleplaying, and immersive storytelling it’s like you’re at the table with them, enjoying the story and quibbling about the intricacies of the rules just like at your own home game.
In addition to their podcasts and streams, they perform live to an audience once or twice a month. In most of their live shows they’ve been playing through Pathfinder’s Strange Aeons six part adventure path, a multi-part campaign that, at a show a month (with some marathon streamed weekends) has taken years to get half-way through. They started with the Pathfinder 1st Edition ruleset but have been playing the last couple of years in Pathfinder 2nd Edition using professionally converted modules.
I’ve been listening to them religiously for over 8 years since I discovered them around episode 40 of the Glass Cannon Podcast. I was fortunate to see them play live at a PaizoCon, pre-plague, when PaizoCons were held in person, but this week I am ecstatic to see them live in Vancouver, BC May 23 at Hollywood Theatre! I live in Washington, but Vancouver is just a hop, skip, and border search away. So four-sixths of my Pathfinder gaming table— a couple dads and their now aged kids (The Hollywood Theatre is 19+) are road-tripping it to foreign lands to see what I expect to be an extremely entertaining show.
Both VIP and regular reserved seats are still available for the Vancouver show ($225 Canadian, $65 Canadian respectively) so grab yourself a ticket if you’re in the area. If you see someone from GeekDad, maybe you’ll earn a GD bottle cap! (Bottle cap trading should really be a thing.) VIP earns you 90 minute early entry to the venue before General Admission, early access to merchandise before doors open to the general public, a limited edition souvenir VIP badge and lanyard, and most importantly access to an exclusive pre-show meet and greet where you can hang with the cast, take photos, get autographs and pre-game with the Naish (the term for us groupies.)

What’s this—a Gauntlet?!
I’ve been frantically trying to get caught up on the posted prior live episodes of Strange Aeons, so had not been privy to the latest news, and in writing this post I discovered the Glass Cannon Network Gauntlet. For those fortunate enough to grab one of these sure-to-sell-out (10 of 22 are sold out as of me writing this post) gaming spots at GenCon will get to play a 60 minute session, with a GCN gamemaster. Playing an iconic network character such as Lorc Irontusk, Zantar King of the Zoogs, or Mrs, O’Lady, you’ll have 60 minutes to “conquer a sadistic encounter meant to test the limits of your party.” Wether you beat the odds or TPK, you leave with a GCN swag bag.
One of my favorite features of face-to-face PaizoCon in the past was their “Delves” where you’d play Pathfinder Iconics in impossible encounters gamemastered by Paizo staff. It was a great way to get in some quick play, while meeting and getting to know the people that make my favorite game! I expect these Gauntlets will offer this awesome ability to interact with these hilarious and talented players. It’s an excellent way to get a seat at their table, beyond just yelling “Praise Log” from the audience!
Whether you’re looking to see one of their live shows, or hoping for a seat at in of their Gauntlets at GenCon, I recommend getting on it, as both are likely to sell out!
