Breaking out of the box of most action cameras, the Drift Ghost X Action Camera has everything users expect with features that far exceed expectations. Designed with the innovative Drift form factor—instead of just being another boxy device—the Ghost X is a fantastic tool for easily capturing excursions and adventures in 1080p Full HD with a single button click.
The 300° rotating lens in the Ghost X allows it to be mounted in any orientation and easily align the shot as desired. The modular side dock on the camera allows either the standard or long-life battery module to be used without changing the attachment or orientation of the camera… even when swapping batteries. The standard battery included with the Ghost X will provide a full 5 hours of HD recording time, but adding the optional long-life battery module boosts recording time to an amazing 8 hours of 1080p video. The unit sent by Wellbots for this review included the long-life battery and surpassed expectations on bicycle rides around New York City—all opinions are our own.
One-touch recording on the Ghost X can turn on the camera and automatically begin recording, ensuring that important moments are captured. Using Car DVR loop recording mode will capture video in a repeating loop, overwriting the oldest content as storage fills. Saving the most noteworthy shots after the fact with Drift’s signature video tagging is easy, especially with the Drift Life application. The app can connect to the Ghost X (and other Drift cameras), creating the smart viewfinder that is so desperately missing from many other action cameras. The Bluetooth connection means users are just a tap or two away from editing, sharing, and livestreaming their adventures.
