NYCC 2018: ‘Lore’ Interview With Aaron Mahnke

Entertainment Television

Lore season two is about to come out on Amazon Prime, as well as weekly episodes for October and a brand new podcast. What a great time to sit down with the creator, writer, and narrator of Lore, Aaron Mahnke.

What Is It?

For those of you who may be new, Lore is a podcast hosted by Aaron Mahnke who twice a month entertains listeners with tales of folklore from around the world. Though it is not necessarily a horror podcast, the content is often disturbing. The Amazon Prime adaptation definitely has a stronger horror feel to it, so it may not be a family watch when it comes to the younger viewers.

That being said, I have been known to play the podcast at bedtime for my son if he requests something a bit spooky. What really makes the show powerful is the slight bit of reality that is mingled with the tales, giving them a sense of verisimilitude that adds to the creepy punch. Aaron Mahnke’s two other podcasts, The Cabinet of Curiosities and Unobscured, give slightly different angles but still fit snugly into the world of the macabre that Lore provides.

Lore Season Two

As a constant listener of the podcast, I  look forward to seeing what Amazon has in store for season two. Aaron Mahnke talked about changing the format around a little in our interview, but take a look at the season two trailer and see for yourself. Like I mentioned earlier, it may not be something for the younger geeks in the family.

Make Sure to check out Aaron’s other podcasts, The Cabinet of Curiosities and Unobscured. They are both as amazing and fascinating as Lore. I look forward to listening to all three podcasts, as well as binge-watching season two on Amazon and perhaps picking up some of Aaron Mahnke’s books. If you are a lover of the strange and macabre or just someone looking to punch up your Halloween season, I recommend a visit into the world of Lore. There is truly something weird there for everybody.
