Get Ready for the Movie With New ‘Jurassic Park’ LEGO

Products Reviews Toys

With the new movie coming out this weekend, I thought it would be nice to pull out the few years worth of Jurassic Park LEGO that we already had and get in some play “building” time with the kids. Of course, as many parents know, pieces get lost and dinosaurs do sometimes escape over time—but not from the vacuum. This immediately led to a shopping trip to see what new sets had been released to coincide with the new movie, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Since our local big box toy store has gone the way of the dinos, we went to the friendly neighborhood Wal-mart and were surprised to see some awesome store exclusives just in time for the show.

Something Old – Jurassic Park Velociraptor Chase

Lego Raptor Chase

This is probably one of my favorite sets of all time. Mainly because it is a great little diorama piece right out of the box. Based on the original movie, Jurassic Park, the Velociraptor Chase set captures the scene from not only the dinosaur breaking into the control room, but also has elements of the attack scene in the kitchen—where the boy, Tim, hides in the cabinet—and has elements of the scene where Ned steals the DNA samples from the vault. You don’t actually get Ned in the set, but you do get a ladder that you can use to pretend they are climbing into the ceiling tiles. 360 pieces.

Something New – Dilophosaurus Outpost Attack

Lego Jurassic World

In this new set based on a scene from the new movie, the Dilophosaurus is bashing through the guards’ defenses because they are moving a baby dinosaur in a box. The female guard must fire the tranquilizer dart gun to save the day, while “Tracker” runs away to save himself. Also, the guard on the crane has night vision goggles on, so this must be happening at night? That is my assumption from the box, but we will have to wait until the movie to find out for sure. This is a really neat set with fun play elements, and it will connect to the older sets if you happen to have them. 289 pieces

Not Borrowed but Blue – Brickheadz of Owen & Blue

Owen and Blue bricks

If you are a fan of Pop! Vinyl collectibles and LEGO, then you probably love Brickheadz. Come to find out, my kids are not really that big of fans of building things that “just sit there on a shelf that we can’t play with.” I like them, personally, because I am boring that way. These Owen & Blue construction characters are neat little keepsakes to build and recreate all their details from the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom movie. They also include a buildable tranquilizer gun for Owen to shoot Blue with. Each character comes with a baseplate for easy display and each stands about two inches tall. 234 pieces
