What’s In the New LEGO Creator Expert Kit?
Rumors have swirled for months and this morning we are getting our first official look at the next LEGO Creator Expert kit: a functioning Roller Coaster. The set is a substantial one, with 4,124 pieces and a higher level of difficulty that makes it a good fit for builders 16 years-old and up. The kit is also upgradable with LEGO Power Functions and LEGO BOOST to add a movement sensor and sound effects that will make the set an amazing part of any LEGO world.
It’s a Roller Coaster!
The LEGO Creator Expert: Roller Coaster is a fully functional chain-lift model that features 2 trains and all the bells and whistles that make a great carnival ride, including a ticket booth, cotton candy cart, concession stand, height marker, and a covered boarding station complete with opening barriers and a control panel.
The cars have lap bars that lower to secure the riders into the cars, releasing the operator’s brake moves the train to the foot of the first climb. From there, the working chain lift will move the cars up the climb and then gravity takes over and sends the cars speeding through twists and turns before coming home to the boarding station. Each of the two trains has 3 train cars with low-friction wheels, and a 44-piece track consisting of 7 different rail elements.
Included Minifigs
There are 11 minifigures in the set, including a cotton candy vendor, 2 ride attendants, 2 grandparents with their granddaughter and 5 more riders. After purchasing tickets at the ticket booth, the minifigs can have a seat on the bench in the waiting area before riding the roller coaster — making sure they smile for the camera! After their ride, the figures can be entertained a with a fountain, cotton candy cart, concession stand, and a pond with a frog figure.
Once assembled, the LEGO Creator Expert: Roller Coaster model will measure 34” wide and 16” deep, and stand more than 20” high!
The LEGO Creator Expert: Roller Coaster (10261) will be first to LEGO VIP’s directly through LEGO on Wednesday, May 16th, 2018 via shop.LEGO.com and LEGO Stores. The monumental kit will cost $379.99 US (not including the additional power or sound effects) but does come with tickets for you to share with all your minifigs so they can ride the LEGO Coaster… as long as they meet the height requirement.
Cool! I hope this is easier than the K’nex roller coaster versions, which are tricky to work with due to warping of the rails (but still great for creativity anyway).
