Radio Free Hipster Ep. 68: The Story Goes

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Radio Free Hipster

Sometimes I sit down to make a podcast with all the ingredients pre-determined; I have a central theme (or a series of smaller, somewhat related points) in mind, like a recipe.

Other times I put off preparation, I procrastinate. Then I panic at the last minute and just throw something together based purely on what songs appeal to me—and will hopefully appeal to you—at the moment. This was one of those episodes.

Listening back to it now, there is clearly an unintended common thread that runs through a number of this show’s musical selections. It concerns finding and losing people, the excitement and wonder inherent in new relationships, and the worry that you’ll ultimately let down those you care for the most.

These are all fairly universal sentiments, so perhaps you can relate. Which is good. But for me, it’s always somewhat sobering (not to mention pretty damn hilarious) to discover the things I say when I don’t even realize I’m sayin’ ’em!

In the words of the great ‘Burglar himself, “The story grows and the plot thickens. / Some things stay the same, some things change, some are a lot different.”
