Brian Shearer’s William the Last Kickstarter is here.

For the past two years, Brian Shearer has been quietly creating a spectacular webcomic called William the Last. The story follows young William, who is an orphan and – at the beginning of the story – finds his way to a strange world where good people are in hiding, a once peaceful civilization is in decay, and his own name is forbidden to be uttered.

Shearer is a freelance comic book pro and is best known for his work on various Transformers and G.I. Joe series from IDW. William the Last updates every Monday, and you really should add it to your weekly routine. The art and storytelling here are stunning. As with most webcomics, the entire thing is online to read for free.

So why the Kickstarter? Shearer wants to make a printed version of the story and a full-episode audio drama of each chapter. The basic Kickstarter is for the first issue (Chapter 1) in both formats. Stretch goals are for additional chapters.

For a mere $5, you can grab a digital and print version of the first issue ($10 will get you a signed copy of the print version) AND the audio drama. That, my friends, is a steal.

The funding goal is rather modest, and there’s just a few days left to help Brian meet the goal, so if this looks like it might be your cup of tea, the cost to jump on board is low, and you’d be helping to make the project a reality.
