Football 21, which launched on Kickstarter this week, was created by a sports agent, sports writer and long-time football fan who wanted a fun, interactive game that they could play at parties, while tailgating, or while just hanging out.

From the footage on the Kickstarter page, the game looks impressive. It’s a metal folding table that appears to be about eight feet long (it looks to be very similar to this), complete with PVC goal posts. The game is played by tossing poker chips, trying to hit various targets on the field.

It is expensive: while early-bird supporters can get the game for $150, it looks like the majority of people will need to pony up $225. But if you tailgate or have football parties frequently, or just want to combine a love of boardgames with a love of football, then this is probably a game that would get played enough to be worthwhile.

The team behind the game has said that they will send a sample of the game to me to review, so I should be doing a more in-depth review of the game later. However, I did want to let readers know about the project early enough that interested parties could get in on the early bird pricing if they were so inclined.
