Congratulations to frequent GeekDad subject, author Jeff VanderMeer. On Sunday night, his novel Annihilation won the 2014 Nebula Award for best novel. I reviewed the Southern Reach Trilogy–of which Annihilation is the first book–and I can assure you, the critical attention Annihilation has received is well deserved. With the book on track to start production as a movie (with Ex Machina director Alex Garland onboard and Natalie Portman rumored to be in talks for the lead) and a new novel Borne to be released in 2016, expect posts related to Jeff VanderMeer’s projects to make frequent GeekDad appearances in coming months.

Once again, congratulations to Jeff, and, for those of you haven’t yet read Annihilation, the Nebula win is yet another reason why it should be on your summer reading list.
