I’ve spent enough time with DreamWorks Animation’s Madagascar crew to know one thing: King Julien and his lemur kingdom are the best thing about it. Some might argue and say the Penguins, but I’ve got a soft spot for the fuzzy, diminutive king and his goofy subjects (I got to know them very well the Christmas that Merry Madagascar came out). So I’m surprised that the Netflix original series All Hail King Julien! flew under my radar.
For those not familiar, the first five episodes detail King Julien’s ascendancy to the throne and his determination to rule a kingdom solely by partying hard (and all the issues that naturally arise from that). For those of you who are already fans, you’re in luck! Five new episodes premiered on Netflix today, April 3rd! The storyline is a little more varied in these eps, ranging from the pitfalls of kingdom-wide automation, courtesy of Madagascar’s new tenerec scientist (they’re like hedgehogs) voiced by David Krumholtz (you might remember him from Numb3rs or as Mr. Universe in Serenity) to a kingdom-wide coffee addiction and subsequent uprising (I can totally relate to the lemur at the end of the clip, when I can’t get coffee, I just want to watch the world burn).
But what if you don’t have Netflix? Well then you’re in luck! DreamWorks Animation is offering up an ‘All Hail King Julien!’ t-shirt and a 6-month Netflix Membership Card to three lucky readers! To enter, simply fill out the form below before 11:59 PM Eastern on Monday, April 6th.
