Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the Chemistry of Beer

About half of all Americans will spend the afternoon (and evening) swilling beer today. And, if not chugging suds, they’ll be wearing too much neon green clothing and talking with really bad Irish accents. A smaller percentage will do all three and these are the ones to avoid.

Beer has a rich tradition with St. Patrick’s Day, but have you ever thought about the connection between beer and chemistry? The folks over at the American Chemical Society did, and they boiled down the basics in this video–take a look and, if you’re out celebrating, remember to designate a driver or use a rideshare today.
