There’s a new comet in town (the recently-discovered LINEAR), and here in North America tonight we’ll get a great chance to watch what happens as we pass through its tail. From later tonight to early Saturday morning, we should get a nicely active shower of meteors, visible wherever the weather is good (see the above projected map by the folks at Accuweather predicting the best watching areas by weather forecast). This is a perfect chance to let the kids stay up a little late, and learn something about the mysteries of our world; plus getting to watch nature’s own fireworks!
