Disney’s latest animated adventure, Planes, hits theaters nationwide on August 9th but you can get your look at three new clips from the film right now!
The film stars an intrepid little crop duster named Dusty who has dreams of competing in an epic around-the-world air race. The only problem is that he’s not exactly built for racing. Oh, and he’s also afraid of heights.
Dusty manages to qualify for the race with the help of his mentor, Skipper and makes enough of an impression that defending champion Ripslinger starts gunning for the little guy. It’ll take all of Dusty’s determination, plus the help and support of his friends, to make his dream come true.
In these clips, Dusty meets fellow competitors Bulldog and El Chupacabra and faces a harsh reception from some of the other racers who don’t think he has what it takes to compete.

So, it seems that just as in ‘Cars’, almost all of the speaking roles and all of the leads in this movie are male. Lame! Does anyone at GeekMom have an opinion about that?
