The difference between a geek and the rest of the world is this: tomorrow, while the rest of the world watches the popular vote, geeks will be watching the electoral map (or even — be still my beating heart! — the electoral college). Here, in preparation for tomorrow’s festivities, is a little warm-up exercise. Using only four colors or shadings, color the following map of the western United States so that no touching states share the same color (touching diagonally at a corner doesn’t count as touching — Arizona doesn’t “touch” Colorado).
