GeekDad readers had the opportunity to download a free copy of The Situation, Jeff VanderMeer’s surreal short story about office politics back in 2008. Since then, Jeff has released numerous books and anthologies (co-edited with his wife Ann VanderMeer), including the Nebula and World Fantasy Award nominated novel, Finch.
The success of The Situation download helped to convince Tor to greenlight a comic book version, written by Jeff and illustrated by Toronto-based artist Eric Orchard. You can check the comic book online for free on Tor’s website. Orchard’s artwork perfectly suits the twisted story, which one reader described as “Dr. Seuss mated with Spawn.” If you have a few minutes to kill on your lunch break (and need a break from your own equivalent of a “Fish Rots From Head” office project), it’s well worth checking out.
