2011 VEX Robotics World Championship: Friday

Yesterday was exhausting, but we still managed to have some fun.

Disney brought out a DJ and lots of confetti fireworks for the opening. It was quite the fanfare with music, stilt dancers, and few Disney characters walking about for photo ops.

I spent the morning setting up webcast computers. We had some issues with the ustream feed but I had to go work the Math division before we solved them all. We started the practice rounds about 1 and switched to qualification round about 3pm. We had some problems with the radios and fields, but managed to get through most of them. I’m hoping that today will be better now that the teams know what to expect.

The Opening Ceremonies and Parade of Nations are this morning at 8. I’m told they will be the biggest and most extravagant opening ever. I’m not privy to the details yet, but I’ll try to get some pictures for tomorrow’s post.

Stay tuned for more 2011 VRC World Champtionships news and follow along live on Twitter @VEXRobotics and the VEX Facebook page. Match schedules, scores, and rankings will be updated real-time on the Robot Events World Championship page. Video of each division will be broadcast live on UStream on the RECF-VEX Channel.
