My Latest iPhone Addictions

Geek Culture

… and the rest

Like nearly everyone else, I’ve played a lot of Angry Birds since last spring when I reviewed it, and I’ve been amazed at the number of updates they’ve released. I even paid for Angry Birds Seasons when it was released at Halloween, and then was delighted to see they turned their Christmas-themed levels into an advent calendar, only allowing you to open one new level per day. Fruit Ninja is still a favorite, too, and one that my kids love to fire up when they get a turn on the iPod. Carcassonne is a great one for playing against my fellow GeekDads and makes me wish I had an iPad for the bigger version.

But finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t point out Orbital. I reviewed it just over a year ago, and since then I’ve racked up … let’s see here … about 84 hours playing it. And this is a game that probably averages about 60 seconds per game, unless I’m doing really well.

Anyway, there are quite a few other games I’ve enjoyed in 2010, but these are among the most addictive, the ones that have given me the most enjoyment and would (in my opinion) give you the best bang for your buck if you’re looking for something fun.
