Happy Birthday! Monty Python’s Flying Circus Turns 40

People

It was 40 years ago today that the first episode of Monty Python’s Flying Circus appeared on the BBC. The show ran for four seasons, cranking out 45 episodes and unleashing their zany, crazy sense of humor on the world. In addition to the “Ministry of Silly Walks”, featured in the video above, who can forget sketches like “Nudge, Nudge,” “Spam,” “The Lumberjack Song,” or “Dead Parrot“. While many people only know Monty Python for their infinitely quotable films, The Flying Circus was the springboard that launched the troupe into the public consciousness. Happy Birthday, Pythons!
