Where’s my Steampunk Menorah?

Hacking the Holidays

Holiday tackiness is no longer just for gentiles. In our two-tradition home, where I am often heard to remark  "Nothing says Christmas like a Borg Cube tree ornament," the search for a fun but not cloying menorah goes on. Actually, I like our brightly-colored fat ceramic candle-holder (although not as much as I did before I realized it was made in China, not a local artist’s workshop). And I am very glad that my mom gave the Disney menorah to my sister. But I thought it would be fun to see what other horrendous — or great geeky — menorahs might be out there. So herewith, a sampling:

A manly pipe menorah (as close to steampunk as I could find)

For the boys, a nice truck menorah.

A test tube menorah (from MIT, of course).

And the winner: The World’s Largest Lego Menorah!
