I just found out that one of my favorite pen-and-paper RPGs, Champions, is now under development as a Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game. I am stoked (and yes, I know that City of Heroes is already out there). Champs – a RPG where you play superheroes trying to save, or supervillains trying to take over, the world – was always one of my favorite RPGs, with a great character-generation system, and some great gameplay. Combine that with the fact that I got to play with some guys who were diehard comic book fans/historians (GeekDad Jake, I’m looking at you and Peter), and I have some great memories of playing, and running, Champs games. Obviously the comic violence will be something each parent has to decide about, but hopefuly I’ll be able to share the fun of this game with my kids.
