From what I hear, it’s science project time at "big kid" school. Kids interested in the history of space exploration might find some good material at the Apollo Lunar Surface Journal. This NASA site includes detailed logs of all the missions as well as all of the photos taken on the missions. More Apollo mission photos can be found at the Apollo Image Gallery.
And for those looking beyond earth orbit, the Hubble Heritage Project site is also well worth a look. The photos are outstanding, of course, but the site also describes the photography process.
