Ray: The first volume was a huge hit, so it’s no surprise that this crossover is back for a second round. Surprisingly, much of the first issue is a very casual affair, reuniting the Sonic characters with their DC counterparts. A mysterious series of portals have cropped up around the world, allowing the two worlds to crossover once again, and everyone is wasting no time catching up with old friends – despite lingering questions about how and why this happened. Sonic shows up in Flash’s city and the two waste zero time getting into another race to their favorite fast food spot. The Amazons are in a pitched battle against the armies of the dead when Amy Rose shows up in her little cosplay Amazon outfit with her giant hammer. Superman and Knuckles, meanwhile, pay a visit to young Team Sonic ally Cream to introduce her to Supergirl and Krypto – both of whom immediately take to the little rabbit.

Welcome back. Via DC Comics.

Other heroes are up to more serious business, though. Silver reunites with his friends in the Green Lantern Corps and immediately starts feuding with Guy Gardner, while Tails joins Blaze and Charmy in a battle with the Teen Titans against Brother Blood – with some amusing misunderstandings along the way. Shadow, meanwhile, heads back to Gotham to investigate the portals, and winds up being pulled into a team-up with Batman. However, Damian is here too this time – and he and Shadow get along about as well as two cats in a sack. The first issue is just giving us a chance to enjoy all these interactions, but there’s one more team-up to be concerned with. Luthor and Eggman are combining their mental powers for a scheme against both worlds, and they’ve brought in some friends. This is a fun kickoff with a lot of promise for a second round, and the characters are really what makes it shine.
