Ray: This miniseries, the main tie-in to Absolute Power and the place we see Waller’s assault on the larger hero community play out, has taken an interesting approach by giving each issue a different creative team. For the final chapter, Dan Watters and Fran Galan take the helm and focus on the global hero community, now under assault by the final of Waller’s Amazos. This attack targets all the international hero teams – Eurocorps, Global Guardians, the unsanctions New Global Guardians, and the Russian InterCorps. There’s just one problem – not only can’t they work together, but they’re trying to arrest or kill the others. It’s an interesting look at just how quickly global alliances against larger threats can fall apart, as well as the return of some underrated heroes like Nightrunner or Ghost-Maker, both of whom have been out of focus lately since the conclusion of Batman Inc.

But this issue is also off a little pacing-wise, similar to last month’s Amazon-centric issue. The first five installments all pitted the Amazos against a specific hero, leading to a tense showdown, while these two issues are much larger-scale battles. That gives very few characters the chance to shine, with the Amazo actually coming off more as the main character. He doesn’t have much of a personality, but it allows Waller in the background to stand out. The Steve Trevor plot concludes this issue as well, before his reunion with Wonder Woman in last week’s issue of her solo series, and it shifts the focus to Waller’s larger plot – bringing in an army from the Multiverse to serve her. This series has been a large-scale thriller pulling in almost the entire DCU, and it’s set up a truly epic showdown for Absolute Power . The issues varied a bit in quality, but overall this was a very intriguing way to do a tie-in.
